Bedtime Sparkles (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our users and their families. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

On applicable plans you may optionally upload a photo of your child to personalise illustrated story pages. When you do:
Uploading a child photo is entirely optional. All other story features work without one.
With your permission, we may access your device’s approximate location (city/region level, not precise GPS coordinates) to automatically switch the app between day and night themes based on local sunrise and sunset times. This location data is used only in real time to determine local daylight hours — it is not stored on our servers or shared with third parties.
Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe (web/Android) and Apple (iOS in-app purchases). We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details on our servers. We store only the Stripe customer ID, Apple transaction identifiers, and subscription status required to manage your account.
We collect analytics and diagnostic information to understand how the service is used and to fix errors. This includes pages visited, features used, session duration, and crash reports. Where possible, this data is aggregated and is not linked to individual story content.

Bedtime Sparkles is a service for parents and caregivers — accounts are created and managed by adults (18+) on behalf of children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13.
The child’s name, age, gender, character appearance details, and any optional photo that you enter or upload when generating a story are provided by you as the account holder and are used solely to generate personalised story content and illustrations. This information is associated with your adult account, not with any separate child account.
If you believe that a child under 13 has submitted personal information to us directly without parental consent, please contact us at hello@bedtimesparkles.com and we will promptly delete that information.
We use the following third-party services to operate Bedtime Sparkles. Each has its own privacy policy that governs how it handles data:
Payment processing and subscription management for web and Android. Stripe receives your payment details and billing information.
In-app purchase and subscription management on iOS. Apple processes payment on your behalf; we receive only a transaction receipt to verify your subscription.
Database, authentication, and file storage. Your account data, profile information, saved stories, and any uploaded child photos are stored in Supabase.
AI story text generation. Story prompts — including child's name, age, gender, theme, and character appearance — are sent to Anthropic's API to generate story content.
AI image generation for illustrated story pages. Story context and, if you opt in, your child's photo are sent to OpenAI's API solely to generate illustrations.
Error monitoring and crash reporting. Diagnostic data (error messages, stack traces, device type) is sent to Sentry to help us identify and fix bugs. Personal information is not intentionally included.
Usage analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate. Data includes pages visited and features used. Analytics cookies can be disabled in your browser settings.
User experience analytics (session replays, heatmaps) to improve the product. Personal information and story content are masked and not recorded.
Print-on-demand book fulfilment. Your name and shipping address are shared with Lulu only when you place a print order.
Transactional email delivery (account confirmation, billing receipts, password reset).
We retain your account data and saved stories for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information, stored stories, and any uploaded child photos within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal or financial compliance purposes (for example, billing records may be retained for up to 7 years).
You can delete your account at any time from the Account settings page in the app.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed password storage, and row-level security on our database so that users can only access their own data. Uploaded child photos are stored in access-controlled storage scoped to your account. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

To exercise any of these rights, please email hello@bedtimesparkles.com. We will respond within 30 days. You may also delete your account directly from the Account settings page in the app, which will remove your personal data within 30 days.
